We only have a few simple requirements for membership:
1. You have entered into a saving relationship with Jesus. (The most important thing!)
2. You have been biblically baptized by immersion.
3. You have completed Exploring Membership.
4. You have read and affirmed our Statement of Faith and Membership Covenant.
During our Exploring Membership class, you will discover what it means to be a member of Colonial Hills. You’ll learn more about who we are, what we believe, and why we do church the way we do. Once this class is completed, you’ll be given an opportunity to become a part of our family. Childcare will be provided by CH Kids
Annually, we invite our members (those who have completed Exploring Membership) to renew their commitment to the life and mission of Colonial Hills by signing our Membership Covenant. This yearly renewal will help us ensure our membership rolls are accurate and allows each of us to reaffirm our desire to walk together in worship, community, service, and mission. We’re grateful for your partnership in the gospel!
Statement of Faith:
I affirm that I have received Christ as my Lord and Savior, have been baptized by immersion, and am in agreement with Colonial Hills Hernando's statement of beliefs, purpose, strategy, and core values. By the leading of the Holy Spirit, I commit to join the Colonial Hills Church family. This means I commit to follow Jesus alongside other members as we pursue the church's vision and the 10 markers described above, which represent the heart of the historic, orthodox Christian Faith. I recognize that I don't have to fully understand or be able to articulate these beliefs to be a member of Colonial Hills Church, but explicitly rejecting any of these beliefs is a disqualification for membership.
1. I will submit myself to the authority of the Scriptures as the final arbiter in all issues. (Psalm 119; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
2. I understand and support the doctrinal position of Colonial Hills Church as outlined in the Statement of Faith.
3. I will commit to assume personal responsibility for my own spiritual growth and that of my family. By God’s grace and through the power of the Holy Spirit, I will seek to walk in holiness in all areas of my life, as an act of worship to Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-16; Proverbs 27; 2 Timothy 2:2; 1 John 2:27; 2 Timothy 2:15; Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
4. I will regularly participate in the life of CHC by attending weekly services, engaging in Biblical community, inviting and welcoming guests, and serving inside and outside the church. (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:22-25; Titus 3:14)
5. I will steward the resources God has given me including time, talents, spiritual gifts, and finances. This includes regular financial giving to the ministry of CHC. (Deuteronomy 14:23; Matthew 25:14-30; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8-9; 1 Peter 4:10-11)
6. I will submit to the leadership of the pastors and other appointed leaders and will be diligent to strive for unity and peace within the church. (Ephesians 4:1-3; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Peter 5:5)
